Remember riding
on your soft,
red back
when I was little.
Remember I fell
and you came back to me.
Remember playing with a big,
bouncy,
colorful ball.
Remember it bounced
into thorns.
Remember the thorns
puncturing
my skin.
Remember staying by my side,
with the thorns
wrapping
around my legs,
not going to give me up.
Remember barking,
while I was yelling.
Remember my dad
getting me out of the thorns.
Remember, Boomer,
you’re my best friend
don’t you forget that.
Remember I’m going to cry
when I have to give you up.
But , Boomer, remember,
You’re the best dog ever,
And my best friend.
